This is one of the kit grids from our recent bikepacking trip in the Alpes-Maritimes, where we spent three days / two nights in the mountains. Whilst we didn’t head anywhere super remote, we still needed to be self-sufficient, carrying everything on our bikes. This kitlist for our unsupported bikepacking trip, is split into three groups:
LUGGAGE (BIKEPACKING BAGS): specific bags for loading a bike, without racks.
SHELTER & CAMPING: a light & small packsize bivvy bag, and camp cooking setup.
TOOLS & ACCESSORIES: essential ‘on the road’ items, and optional extras.

Additions:
15 | Bike Lights – front and back. On this sort of trip, ensure your front light can be used to light up tracks in the dark, as well as just for being seen.
16 | Clothing – wear what you want, within reason. Outerwear is important for adverse conditions – take a rain shell that can even double up as a wind stopper, and warm down jacket for cold times off-the-bike. A buff is always useful.
17 | GPS
18 | Camera
18 | Medical Kit
19 | Hand sanitiser
20 | Water Filtration (tablets / filter)?
